Introducing The Water-resistance Standards Of The Custom Watches
As we all know, water-resistance is one of the most important specifications of the machinery, smart devices and related precision instruments. Different product category has its unique standard of water-resistance, such as the IP68 standard for iPhone XS & XS Max. Today we’ll introduce the Water-resistance Standard of the watches.
When you’re thinking about to buy a normal watch or customize a creative watch like ours, you must pay special attention to the Water-resistance in the feature or product description. If the watch doesn’t state it’s water resistance, then treat it as if it’s a piece for paper. Water resistant is a common mark which usually stamped on the case back or the dial of the watch, to indicate how well the watch is sealed against the ingress of water. Usually, we can see the stamped mark like 30M/3ATM , 50M/5ATM , 100 M/10ATM to indicate the water resistance. So what’s the difference of these standards? Here is a simple explanation to tell them apart based on its usage
30M, 3ATM = Daily Splash Resistant.
Just like the Steel Strap Watch in our platform tagged with 3ATM water resistance, it actually means the splash resistant, which is ok for rain, hand washing, other occasional contact with water. But it does NOT mean you can take it 30 meters below water.
50M, 5ATM = Daily Splash Resistant.
Suitable for swimming, fishing, other outdoor activities.
100M, 10ATM = Daily Splash Resistant.
Suitable for snorkeling and other prolonged contact with water, but not for scuba.
Please always remember, no matter the high-end or creative custom watches, water-resistance is the basic but one of the most important specification and standard for you to decide if it’s suitable for you.
